I have it all back together it ran for 15 minutes and it shutdown on its own ,
I checked all the electrical's and there fine ,go to the next step and pull the stator cover and sure enough the woodruff is split in 2 -
-my question is where do I get another key for this, and how did this happen in the 1st place

that key is alway weak seems like they need a titanium/iron one insteed. I had a bored xr motor that would eat them all the time.I just fixed it and sold it theres nothing I could have done to stop it ,but have a machine shop build a custom tit/or stronger key or cut larger slot for larger key?PLANETHONDA.COM OR CALL#,also look up 250r builders they can tell you.

I never had a problem shearing keys. Are you sure you guys are cranking your flywheel nut down tight enough?

when u fit the flywheel back on ,, u have to actually tap it on even a tad further even after torquing down ,then torque again. i,m guessing thats what caused the problem...
