View Full Version : DRR for Trail Riding?

I have been looking at a replacement for my son's Predator 50 - it is fine for around the staging area and learning some basic concepts, but out on the trail, well....

So, would there be any concerns as far as using a DRR as a trail machine only? It is unlikely that we will be getting into any sort of racing. Specifically, I am looking at the DRX2-70. I found an older thread on another forum that raised some concerns about liquid cooling on longer rides? It can get pretty warm here, even in the "cooler" months. Any other issues or concerns? I looked at the Outlaw 90 for the four stroke and reverse, but the frames seem a little large for a 7 year old. Also considering a Kasea Skyhawk 90.

Any and all comments appreciated.

The DRR is a great trail quad.... Just make sure you use the stock filter that uses a snorkel to run filter up away from water...
we ride the track and go to croom which 1800 acres of sandy florida trails and it is just fine...
My son moved from a predator 50 to the DRR 90 and loves it

I agree with the snorkel but I put UNI's on all of ours. You could drop the front sprocket to a 17 and perhaps a 35 on the back if you are not satisfied and they do real well as a trail bike. You will be quite satisfied.

An air cooled unit could be a good option for you.

A DRX50 with a 70cc top end may be the best option.

The 50cc set up is narrower (41" compared to 44")which is better for tight trails.

The engine and CVT between a 50 and 70 are identical, so the only change would be the top end (Cylinder, Head, Piston)

Good luck
