I would suggest buying a kit. Cutting the little pieces correctly without the right equipment would suck.

Bare Makes them (CLICK HERE) (http://bareperformance.com/news/?page_id=48) $75

Walsh Makes Them (Click Here) (http://www.walshrc.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=49) $200

I would suggest buying a kit also. I have BARE performance kit on my quad. I like it.

I circled the frame of the ones that i can remember are gussetted on my frame.

The upper main tube by the upper engine mount is usually teh first place to form a crack, and it can and will crack even if your just a trail rider. This frame was broke on both sides and even by the small tab

The second most common place on the 450r is the cross tube (where your factory front break lines mount) Ive seen these broken completely out

Inside of the front shock mount is another area that most miss.

The coil mount is another area that often goes un noticed

For the money, you cant beat the Bare kit.

And yes, ive seen cracks in just about every frame that comes through here:eek2:

No, I install Walsh and LSR as well. But for the average rider, a $75 kit that covers the major areas is adequate versus a $200 kit that may offer a bit more but at a much higher cost.

Rath racing sells them to and there $45 for the most part gusset in the same place as Bare but in a different form like instead of a plate for the top tube and the foot peg area it is a lap joint i post pic just getting mine back.

While I am a fan of most Rath products, their gusset kit, to me, was to thin and did not cover enough of the areas I see cracking.

I think the best kit for me anyways would be the Bare and Rath combined. I like the pieces Rath has for overtubing the upper motor mount area.

Traxx Performance has an AWESOME ONE!!
His are like 60 bucks and covers all the spots known and unknown, he has some pieces others don't have. He has done 2 of mine and also powder coats.
I believe his gusset kit is like 125 installed !!

Ok I need your guys help again, the frame i bought is cracked on both top tubes of frame ( yes i kno it was cracked when i bought it, and the top tube of frame basically right before where the sub frame mounts up/ like where sjorge said he beefed his up). but i wanna get it welded and put something there to beaf her up, but i was wondering if someone could post a pic of that spot on there bike w/ plastic off so I can see how much room there is to work with right there. Thanks- Sean

On the bare gusset kit the shockmount gussets go right where the front fender brackets are. At least on the 2006+ models. I found this out the hard way and had to grind about half out of my fender brackets.

Bare doesn't appear to adress my problem area. I have a crack around the footpeg area and on the crossbar between the back of the frame. I atleast want a kit that covers that and the top rails. I was looking at the Rath and good info on them, kinda hate to spend 200 on a kit. May just end up making one!

We add gussets to areas that the less expensive kits do not cover, as many customers dont want that expense either. A triangle gusset in the footpeg area works best, and even the gussets for that area from Walsh and others doesnt prevent it from cracking. The metal in and around the pegs is ultra thin and is ate away FAST by rust due to it being the lowest point on the frame as water collects there(inside the frame tubes) after washing/riding etc.

What pisses me off is that a replacement frame is damn near a $1000 and it is no better then what your replacing:ermm:

Run the gusset inside the shock mount opposite of where you would normally install them or trim the fender mount. They break to the inside of the shock mount long before they do on the outside anyway.
