what do you guys suggest of order of making my stock 250r (or any stock quad) to race ready? first off i started with suspension..
here is my list of what order im getting parts.
1) shocks (elka tripple rate ssd) *on order
2) aarms (hsd +2+1 red aarms w/ chrome top) *on order
since its winter i decided to do a rebuild...
3) guessest and powdercoat
4) axle (any suggestions?)
5) rear shock revalve for my weight
6) tires
7) nerfs, bumbers, grabbar, kill switch, etc.
8) plastics, graphics, touch ups, etc. etc.

think this is the best way?

Sounds like a nice front end set up. A pro must have recommended it.:D
Axle, get an RPM, no questions asked.
Nerfs, AC pro peg or similar pro peg.
rear shock, Quad shop mac daddy conversion.
fenders, race cut. (save looks for last, performance first, looks wont make u faster!!)
AC XC (wide) Grab bar....comes in handy if ya get stuck in mud.
Pro design tether kill switch.
I like the AC stadium bumpers (good spot for a # plate)
grips-Oury, great for isolating vibes
and Bars- Tag's T2 or X5, both are good, but I prefer T2 fat bars.
Tires, tamers on beadlocks (18x9.5x8)
Radials up front.

i dont plan on riding in the mud... they look kind of funny.
and do you have a pic of the stadium bumper? doesnt it reduce airflow to radiator because of the number plate...?

well if youre gonna be racing, I can guaran-d@mn-tee there will be mud, buddy, and I know for a fact they make movin it around a LOT easier. And the stadium bumpers come w/ drilled # plates.

racing mx in the mud is retarted, it sucks , u go slow and it messes ur quad up, the day i race in the mud will be the day nacs gives me freequads and maintains em

get that rear shock set for more than just your weight.

Get an 89 lenght swingarm. Switching to an 89 chassis was the best thing I ever did!
My quad is now almost completely an 89 R.
Make sure your brakes are in really good shape and everything is maintained meticulousy (sp?) cuz MX puts a serious beating on quads.
I'd say wait a few weeks for the Holeshots MXR tires!
And ya shoulda got an LT front end

don't go with a stock rear shock conversion, i've blown mine like 3 times and they don't perform to great compared to the fronts. Since i've gotten a new rear shock its made a huge differance.

Well anyone who races will tell ya, there are muddy days. Sometimes the track gets overwatered and stuff. So dont expect to stay clean racing.

That set up is a good set up for most tracks, assuming its dry. No MX tire is good on the mud though. So bring an extra set (stockers) with ya just in case its muddy.

Here is the stadium on a 400. Keep in mind how big they are, and not everyone likes them. The numbers are 10 inch, to give you an idea. The number plate i got with it from AC was too tall and didnt fit right, so I used it on on the back. I plan on drilling holes on the plastic I used for the back ground, because there is a whole bunch of about 1 inch holes in the flat part of hte bumper.

i dont know about any of you but i hate the new design ac's with the swept back look. i like how mine is straight across. also yea get a rpm dominator 2 they are the best axle out there. if you cant get that(600$) get the regular dominator

nasty, the performance of the stock rear shock conversion is absolutely terrible compared to aftermarket imo. Personally i'd hate to see you make the same mistake I did which cost me 350 bucks extra and having to race on blown shocks and not to mention all the time the shock was in the mail back and fourth. I know you don't have the money now but just keep your stock rear shock until you do.

im selling a quadracer. would be a great racer with just aarms and an axle. im asking under 3grand. you will find chitty 250r or 400ex stock for that, and have to mod that, my motor is also modded already. were close from eachother (5 minutes)
...stop by and check it out...

yeah reg is right, I got elka triples on front and a actual elka rear shock with resivour, ssd, ect. It is a so much better imo. The stock rear shock conversion really wasn't even worth the money performance wise imo anyways unless you just do a little play jumping and trail riding.
