removing clutch side cover. 86 lt250R

The motor is out of the frame. I removed all the bolts, kick start lever, and the water pump. No matter how hard I pry I can't get the cover off. It will move about an inch but I am not getting any farther than that. Is there a snap ring or something that I am missing??

what does it say to do in the manuel:D

mine just kind of pops off i really dont do anything

this may sound dumb, but put the little aluminum arm back on the shaft that works the clutch and tighten the pinch bolt too, and turn it counter clockwise, and the cover should come off then.
