What kind of seat is that? That hump makes it look like it's for a motorcycle...

The seat is a custom unit I put together. Everybody that has ridden with it likes it.

Tell me more about this seat. How did you make it? Is that a custom-made seat cover, too?

You've built some pretty nice machines.

I guess that's why you wanted the desert foam.

I've thought about making the hump seat for the 250R myself. How does feel when riding?

I got the seat foam from 250Renvy (thanks for foam and the compliments). It started out as CEET brand desert foam. I started by triming angles on the very back to give it a more modern look. Then I cut out the unwanted foam leaving the hump. I then VERY carefully finished shaping the foam with various grinders and sanders. I then covered it with a Motion brand seat cover. I love those covers. They are the thickest, highest quality covers I've seen. And they are inexpensive to boot. They are supplied by Dirt Freaks. Distributed by Langston Racing (Cali), Wheeling Cycle Supply (WV) and there is a third one but can't think of it off hand. I get mine from Cycle Tech (Bucyrus, Ohio).

To make the cover work with the hump on a 250R seat it had to be customized in the back by an upholstery shop. And I had to use spray addhesive to hold it down in front of the hump. I have done about ten or so of these hump seats and this one was by far the most difficult.

As far as the feeling of the seat you don't really notice it until you hang off the back more. Then it just seems to give it a more positive feel, like you can transfer your weight a little more effectivly. I make the humps pretty far back on quad seats. As opposed to bike seats much further forward, to keep the rider forward as needed on a bike.

Well looky there you have an opinion on the seat and you typed it on out for everyone to see. That's great, grand and wonderful all wrapped up in a nice "regular" little package.

do the shocks bolt up easy, did they have to be modded? did derisi make mods to them for the 250 or was it a standard 450 re-valve he does? I am just getting a 250r and have 450 shocks so I am interested in that espically

They bolted right up. Just had to put the reservoirs to the front to clear the radiator shrouds. They are just standard DeRisi 450R valving. We got lucky, I thought they were a little to soft on a 450R but they feel about right on the lighter 250R.

I never did see that assembled. Why no gun rack?

Because tarp straps and baler twine work just as well.
