i am thinking about putting a big bore kit on my 2005 400ex and i dont know if i should go with a 426 or 440? Where could i put my ignition and indicators if i get some new handlebars?

I say 426. They still have great power and I'm pretty sure it would be more reliable than a 440. As for the ignition and stuff people have made their own mounts or simple drilled holes in their plastic.

If I had to build another 400EX it would be an 87MM (typical 416 bore) stroker, putting out 440-450CC. I would probably have only (2) companies build this for me.

all i can say is im pretty happy with my 440. never been beat in a drag by any ex (not saying it cant be done by any means) and with an extra cooler ive never had any overheating problems. they say the 426's rev faster, idk though. mine seems to rev pretty well. id say it all depends on what you like cuz everyone is gonna say what they have is the best....like me:p

The 426 will be a good choice imo it will rev quickly and have good power and if you get it resleeved it will last longer.

i think there both good, and a ogod built 440 will last long as a 426.. it jsut depends how well it is done and how you ride..

but people sat that 440s overheat alot and they are less reliable..
if i get a 440 what can i put on it to keep the engine cooler

i ahve had them all 416 426 440 and now even a 490 lol. It doesnt matter what you do to any of them you have to have parts to go with them to make them run good. You can go as big as you want but compression means alot and so does letting your motor breath. I would prolly do the 426 good amount of torque but still revs good but its all about what componets you want to put in the motor and how much you want to spend. as fay as realiblity you can make any of them last as long as you do it right the first time.

if i get a 440 what can i put on it to keep the engine cooler keep it coller prolly the one thing.. higher the octance the easy it burns (i've heard) bigger oil reserve and bigger radiator would help alot..
