2001 raptors

there has been roomers about the 2001 raptors it is true they say that they loose 2nd and 4th gear its true it just happened to him.

It is not a rumor, it is fact and they have more or other problems with the 01, but they were mostly fixed on the 02's and later.

I have heard about 01s having tranny problems on bluetraxx , Around here all the 01s haven't had anything wrong with them , i guess it must just be the american ones...

do not buy a 2001 raptor it is a complete piece of s#$%, tranny problem it is not rumour it is a fact, one way assembly on starter goes every couple months at $250. a whack, keyway shears off flywheel happened 3 times on my 01, the later models corrected these problems , all except the starter they are still failing on a reguler bases by far the worst bike I ever owned!!!!!!!!!!!!!:grr

I ride with a lot of different people and some have owned raptors, notice I used past tense. They got rid of em for 400 Ex's. The power of them is awsome but what good is it when the machine falls apart or does'nt work all the time. I just talked to a mechanic where I bought my 400 and he said that even 02's and 03's are even having these problems. I am giving you serious advise to STAY AWAY FROM THESE PIECES OF TRASH! Just think about this, you are already committed to hitting a double and you lose your tranny, your gunna have more problems than you need.:(

i have 2 riding buddies that have switched from their 400ex's to raptors. on is a 2001 and the other is a 2002. neither of them have experienced any problems other than a flat tire or bent bars. they liked the increased power of the raptor. all other aspect didnt matter because their 400ex's had extended a arms with pep suspension as do their raptors. in their and my opinion, the raptor is the ultimate machine -- for those who think differently, please give me a good deal on a raptor so that i can afford one -- i would love to get rid of my 300ex.

I know where you can get a good deal , when your buddys tranny falls out .I would start setting a side some cash for your buddys 01 I have a hunch he is going to want to sell it real soon for real cheap money! tick ,tick ,tick BOOMB !!you can not even give the 01 away, hope you are not behind him when it locks up! yes they do fly no one disputes that but what good is it sitting broken in your garage!needing a 1500.00 tranny. no flame intended happy thanks giving
