I have two polaris 500 utility quads now and they seem kinda gutless compared to a 400ex. Does anyone make a good utility quad with good old chains and sprockets and 5 gears?

Lol a polaris would never stack up to even a 400ex. I think Arctic Cat makes a 500 manual, check it out on there site. A brute force 650 or something other then polaris will probably rape a 400ex.

I'm not saying a polaris would stack up to a 400ex. I know our family has had em. I doubt a 650 brute force could either but I could be wrong.

Sence we've had the 400ex I was trying to make a comparrison to how the power got to the ground. I like the feel of a manual compared to a slush box.

Thanks for the info on the arctic cat. Now if someone only made a bigger one.:D

The next quad I buy just might be a polaris 500. They're really comfy.

Really, I think the manual transmissions come in the smaller utility quads, like the Honda Foreman (475cc), the Honda Rancher (420cc), the Yamaha Big Bear (400cc) and the Suzuki Eiger (376cc).

They also all have automatic clutches, I don't know of any that have manual clutches.

The Renegade 850 will smoke a 400ex and beat most 450's in a drag race. They are insanely fast.. ;)

I would hope so, there only twice the size. Would love to ride one!

Looks like Arctic cat 500 is the only midsize utility quad with a 5sd. manual.
