I am needing a piston for my 86, will it take a wiseco from an 88 model? It is a different part number by one digit but the pin and everything is the same size. What is the difference between the two?

no one has a longer crank shaft

So does that mean one piston is shorter than the other?

the pin location on the 86 is about 5mm lower than the pin location on the 88. if you have an 87-89 and run an 86 piston, you need the spacer plate to compensate.

Thanks, I was thinking of using an 88 piston on an 86 but it sounds like it would not work. So much for the good deal I found on the 88 piston.

i have the same problem! i can find great deals on 88 pistons, but nothing on the 86 that i need. i run the spacer plate so i can run the 88 piston if i want, but i will have about a half inch of extra base stud to fill.
