2008 GNCC Round #5 "Loretta Lynn" Live ATV Race Coverage (

Hurricane Mills, TN - Round 5 of the GNCC Series heads to Loretta Lynn's Ranch, which is a series favorite for many GNCC Racers.

On Friday the weather was picture perfect with temps in the mid 80s, so many families headed down to the Hurricane Creek to cool off or just for some fishing.

Friday Night, the clouds moved in along with the thunder and lighting and some well needed rain to cut the dust for Saturday's racing action.

That's gotta be a tough decision. Hope she can recover and have a good race to make the sacrifice worth it :)

we've been talking to the suuzki engineers about this for 2 years...they come in every few months. after signing borich they've been considering it more tahn ever...

expect to see some new things out of suzuki in the next couple years.

I think the DS has great potential, but like you said, its still a first year bike. most companies dont have the success KTM is having first year, but it shows how high KTM has really raised the bar with their machine, as well as their rider support

oh trust me...i know chris is fast. he rode for us since he was 15!

he's like one of my kids half the time.

the first year bike thing has really been an issue....we know he's still gonna do good when the bike starts working for him.

i'm proud of how he's been handling it though. he's not letting it get him down-he's making the best he can out of it and still pushing to do his best. he used to be REALLY hard on himself...but he's doing much better with this all than i thought he would!

For the guy that was saying Ktm got lucky on having a good first year bike it wasnt really a first year bike those motors/ or at least the concept of what that motor is has been around for a few years and the qwerks were worked out when they were in a bike frame!

Good to hear Chris is keeping his head up, he's always been one of my favorites. Last year at St. Clairsville he came out of a corner into the field I was standing in, and I threw my fist in the air and yelled as loud as I possibly could, he looked at me, then pulled a wheelie and rode it all the way across the field, I know he heard me. lol

I need someone that fast to ride with, all my friends are weekend warriors or old men, and now its them that are left in the dust when we go riding :blah:

KTM built a quality machine, they made sure of that. Im not saying its luck with them, I talked to one of the reps in Georgia for almost the entire afternoon race, and he told me about all the testing and stuff they'd done with the new machines. They're not lucky, they're good :D

that damn limp mode is the worst thig on that bike!!! i thought they had it overrided on all the race bikes??? I'm not sure what can am is thinking.

basically limp mode is a sensor in the computer that if the bike starts to get too hot...it shuts it down completely. can't be restarted.

talk about frustrating!

Very frustrating for the can am guys. They have some darn good riders and none can do what they did last yr cause of the can am. Very sad...for the guys.

yeah, its meant to try to prevent from blowing your motor up...which is great for the average consumer...but for these guys it can be a nightmare.

this has happened in quite a few of the local races especially....and i don't think it's the first time there's been a problem with it at the nationals.

I think the bike has alot to do with it, look at chrissy, he has been training alot and still can't get that bike to work that well
KTM made a good first year bike, plain and simple
too bad it's 9.400 bucks to get it though, that will turn alot of people away

Limp mode eh, dumbest Idea I've ever heard of. Put a bigger radiator or something, they shouldnt be overheating like that anyway (although the only dry race this year so far has been Florida)

Its killing me not being there, this and Florida are the only races I've missed this year:(

it takes more than speed to win , running out of gas is a rookie mistake, you don't see ballance running out of gas, ballance has experience over them, I don't know if they pitted or not, or maybe the bike just used more gas than the others, but either way, those are rookie mistakes that will cost them the title, speed isnt everything.

But if im not mistaken bill and chris both had dnfs this year due to unforseeable things... you gonna chock that up to "rookie mistakes"? The canams have been junk!When we see some 90-100 deg mx races we will see how they will last over there.

Momma B if you check in and for who ever is interested, I wanted to let you know that I finally spoke with Adam. BOTH KTM's had an electrical problem on the last lap. Taylor was able to limp his bike to the finish line. Adam said he was in second and was close enough to Bill to that he could have reached out to touch him with his hand. The bike shut down, he did everything he knew how to get it started again but it just wouldn't fire. KTM tech's are all scratching their heads and trying to figure out what the heck happened here. Both KTM's were poised today for a podium and they both suffered the same trouble.
