I have a 1999 LT80 that my 7 year old rides. I also have a 2005 400ex (mine) and a 2003 250ex (older sons) and I live in Central Florida. Elevation is like 100 above sea level and it's always warm-hot here! We mainly ride woods and trails and the LT80's only mods is a K&N in the stock air duct.

I recently rejetted my Honda's mains and was really amazed with the responsiveness on the throttle. I just changed the mains.

My question is could I swap out the main in the LT80 for a slightly larger one without negatively affective it's performance. I take the carb down somewhat regular to clean and thought...hmmm...maybe bump up the main to a like 95 or something. Would this have a positive effect on the otherwise stock motor and would there be any reasons not to do it?

I know 4 strokes and 2 strokes are different but it never hurts to ask right?

I think that the jetting on a stock lt80 is on the rich side. I lower the main jet one jet side on my son stock bike. The bike seem to run better. You can try a larger main jet and see how it but run.

I live in California at approx. the same elevation and temp., and Thanx to all of the wonderful info in this forum, I have set my daughter's lt up this way: trinity pipe, 90 main jet, .030 off the head, wheel spacers, premix 32/1, removed 2 rollers (trans), lightened the rear clutch "shoes" 30 grams(I can't remember what they're called!). The little quad kicks arse! My daughter rides mostly desert and loves her new performance! I hope this helps!
