What is stage 2 porting? I found a new cylinder plus piston(68mm), rings, bearing and gaskets for just $150. The cylinder is supposedly stage 2 ported but I don't really know what that is. Is this a good deal? I was thinking of just doing this instead of having mine bored and getting a new piston. Thanks for any advice.

The only way to know what some random "stage 2" porting is is to take it to a reputable engine builder and have him take a look at it. Until you do that you're taking shots in the dark.

thats what I was afraid of. It seemed like such a good deal buts its via the internet so I was really leary about doing it. I think that maybe I will just take my jug to my machine shop and know that it is right. What is the difference between the jugs with bridge where the reeds go and the ones without it?

Doesn't Trinity do porting in "Stages"?

Most everybody does. One persons stage 2 may be nothing like someone elses stage 2.

Will a 68mm piston give you much of a power increase over the stock 66mm?

If both were new you couldnt really tell a difference.

Trinity Racing terms their porting in stages like that, stage 2, 3, 4.
I beleave Pro Circit does theirs the same way also.

trinity does gage their porting by stages. i have one of the stage 4 ported cylinders and it has aggressive power. the particular cylinder i have has the trinity logo on it with the stage rating.

It's pretty ambiguous. Like Chris said, one person's "stage 2" might not be like another's

However, it's a pretty sure bet that it's somewhere around mid-range, almost certainly NOT high-rev.
