My personlal advice is to stay with the 416 kit, as everyone I have talked to says the 440 is veeerrrry unreliable and is prone to blowing up - Everything is maxxed out to get to 440 from what I've been told - Very high maint. to keep them reliable.

a 440 is a problematic motor. see the problem is they run hot due to the fact the the jug is so bored out th after a short time the piston rubs the cylinder wall and on into the head studs. if I were u i would keep the 416 , stock bore w?a stroker crank, full race head port and polish stage to cams , shorten he valves and do a valve job and u will have a motor well capable with a 41mm fcr carb , race gas and proper tunning. And your quad will rip. A friend of my had a motor very similar to what i told you to do and It smoked 440's 450's any where. and most of them were built also.

If I was you i'd just keep the 416 IMO.

Depending on how old it is you should just consider a rebuild. Get it ported and polished etc.

My old 416 ran like i beast.

I had a 10.9:1 je piston
Full port and polish by C&D
Stage 2 Hotcam
Sparks timing advance key(they say not to run it with a bored motor due to overheating issues but my motor never had issues with it)
450R Carb (Very good results but can be a hassle if you don't take your time installing it really well do a search)

It was a very reliable motor and had plenty of guts to it. Spend your money on suspension and maintenance. I will take a very well maintained bike over a rust bucket with a big motor any day.
