Fibreglass for custom body parts

I've seen a couple fibreglass quad tech hoods on ebay.

I'm wondering if this is a viable option for making a custom hood? Would it hold up?

Any ideas where I'd get this done?

Originally I was thinking of just cutting and sanding/ plastic welding a couple different hoods then painting but it may not look very good once it's done.

A buddy of mine has an 86 honda interceptor. The plastics were all cracked and he did a fiberglass 'overlay' of the, sanded, painted, and it looks brand new.
