Riders from several States including Canada attended this round, with Washington riders domintating in entries .
Youth riders were no exception with once again full gates in the Youth classes .Alot of young talent was to be seen at this round along with larger classes such as the Shifter class that had 14 entries this round!!! Sport classes once again with overfilled gates .
Washington State provides many tracks for quad racing including MX,GP and Flattrack.

Fridays practice was canceled this round, so some of the riders rolled in later ,others took advantage of walking the full course, and just hung out with there familiy and friends.

The biggest talk of the wk end would be what weather to expect.
The Ole saying"April showers, bring May flowers" would prove to be just that this round-and more!

How about some SnowCross ?? :huh :p

We decided to take advantage of the down time as well on Friday and walked the full course before the weather changed.
Youth riders would have a variety of elevations changes with several of them being slick and slimy with large rocks threwout the course.

QuadJunkies

Trails were mainly single file ,which concerned riders....Preparing and planning ahead would be key. There were spots that were just enough to squeeze threw for the full sized quads.

QuadJunkies
04-23-2008, 11:46 AM
The MX Course would be a little more technical .There was a few good sized huckers on the course and most of the kids I talked to seemed to like it.

Due to Sound ordinance, racing actions kicks off a little later in the morning, which meant we all got to sleep in!!!!:D
As most of the riders suspected, storm fronts moved in and gave the racing quite a variety of weather!! This is very unusual weather fro the Western States to be getting so much snow this year and were all begining to think we may never see Spring!
Rain, hail, snow ,wind and sun all in 10 minute intervals threwout the entire wk end!
This photo was shot during the unclassified morning races.

With no Friday practice this round, coverage kicks off with the youth unclassifed . This would be the only time riders would have to get familiar with the MX and XC sections.

Starting off the morning racing was the Shifter Open class.
This would be one of the largest Shifter classes we have seen in WORCS with 13 shifters on the line with Washington State riders dominating.

Single trails would cause some serious bottle ups in the trails since limited areas for passing were available to the riders. MX sections would be a riders biggest means of passing . Each lap would be a guess on who would be 1st out of the trails ...

Youth riders are off!!!
#177 Cole Fite leads in laps 1 and 2...

QuadJunkies
04-29-2008, 10:11 AM

Female Hetricks Team rider #10y Kelsey Lugan moves up from 10th position in the 1st lap to 4th place finish in the final lap.
Lugan expressed the importance of navigating in the woods this round, she stated many bottle ups and riders off course ,this was how she was able to gain several position in the XC sections.

There were kids stuck all over the course!!!
Alot of the smaller kids especially, so it made it very tough to race competively with very little places to pass. We had to help a couple kids get unstuck so we could keep racing. This round was alot more than riding fast and jumping big, it was very technical on the MX and XC this round, I think walking the course was very helpful since we had no practice on Friday

Thanks for all the great race coverage, photos, and videos from the WORCS Series because your presence at the races will surely be missed, and I can only pray that your current set back will only be temporary.

Heres a little info .I really didnt want to bring it in the Coverage section, but Ive had alot of emails asking ,so maybe I should.
http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=348942&highlight=worcs

This doesnt mean I wont be back after the racing break ,I just wont make it back in two weeks for round 5.Just sucks for Kelsey and Brandon,Kelsey is doing well in points this year in one of her classes.
I wish it had happened AFTER we got back, that buys us some time!
Troys got 2 interviews next week, so we will see.
At any rate, someone else will be doing some of the Coverage for the rest of the season,so no worries there.;)

If anyone has ever wondered about this series and thought about trying it -you should! I have seen this series REALLY take off since we first visited WORCS in 2003. Its come along ways ...

You wont find another mix of terrain quite like WORCS.

Where do you find 600+ quads racing sand dunes, desert, woods,MX, and endurcross all in one week end ?

:blah:
