Oil Leak....

I was o ut riding yesterday and i noticed there was oil all over the fins on the left side of the motor...I figured out that it was coming from the two allen bolts on the left side of the rocker arms cover.. I checked them to see if they were loose at all, but they were fine, what would cause the oil to leak like that?

Blown gasket?

Washer may need to be replaced. I ran into the same problem with both of my 400ex's. Im going to be replacing the washers this weekend.

If anyone has had this same issue and have found out why oil was coming from these bolts/pins, I would like to know before I tear into it this weekend.

Its almost crazy that both of my 400ex's are leaking from the same bolts on the left(Intake) side of the engine!

Exrider434 - I didnt mean to take over your thread, but I have the exact same problem and I have not torn into it yet, b/c I am waiting for all of my parts to get in and then Im going to try to replace the 14 mm washers on the bolts and hopefully that resolves the oil leak. What is really nutz is that both of my 400ex's have just started leaking from the same bolts. I have a 2002 460 stroker and a 2000 stock 400ex, both with same issue. Very weird! Open to anything anyone has to say about this type of oil leak.

Mine did that a long time ago. I just tightened the allen bolts up and it stopped.

mine did the same..i just tightened them some and seemed to work..

Its not anywhere where there is a gasket, i thought that at first but there was no way..
