i bought an entire top end for my 400ex but i want to use the same bottom end. but i want to replace the crank. but the problem is i dont what to increase my bore too large because thats what i believe thats what caused me to ruin my last top end. is it possible to use an aftermarket crank but keep the stock bore. id rather use a 416cc bore if the stock is not possible. can anyone help me out?

Wiesco sells stock length rod cranks that are trued and welded.

I don't know if you want to go bigger cc's but not with a bore, or if you just want an aftermarket crank that is the same length.

If your doing it for more power, your best bet is to go big-bore piston. It's more reliable than a stroker I believe.

You can go:

406 (stock cylinder)
416 (stock cyl)
426 (stock or re-sleeved, recomend resleeved)
440 (re-sleeved)

Or, you can do stroker combos:
440 (I believe 416 or 426 with a +4 crank)
460 (440 BB with +4 crank)
500 (FST makes a 440 but even longer crank I believe)

Check out www.powroll.com. Very reliable and fast setup. Great outfit to deal with.

you can go with a stroker crank but you'll just have to use the matching piston with it that has a different wrist pin location,i think they are available in other bores besides the 89mm(460 kit)

A stroker built correctly is just as reliable as a bore motor and makes more power. If you use a powroll stroker crank with short rod you can use any piston made for a 400ex. if you use a stroker crank with stock rod length you can get it in a 87mm bore from powroll which would be a 416 not stroked. That would make it a 440 stroker. The only other option is to have a custom piston. The cranks im talking about are +4mm strokers.
