ok heres the short story i have an 86 r called steve at SMC to make me some +1+1 arms got a call back tonight and he says that he never built the 86 sytle arms just 87 on

the issue here is the bearings and seals my old were shot so i ordered brand new ones form all balls for the 86 i still have reciept but the boxes were trashed they are sitting on bench waiting on the arms to get here

and the 87 on bearing/seals are a totally different design looking at the microfiche online

so my question to all you gurus out there is can i make these 86 bearings/seals work with these a arms?

and if so how can i do it..only reason i ask is all balls isnt going to trade me out when i threw the original boxes away so now ive got this delima any help is appreciated.

The 86 uses a bushing design the is unique to 86's only, the 87-89 use a heim type bearing. The frame end of the arms on an 86 are larger in diameter than an 87-89. He's probably going to be stuck with that bushing kit, just as he would if was an 87-89 set-up. All the aftermarket arms I've seen will not not use either type stock set-up.

unfortunately rich is correct. what you could do is go with an aftermarket bushing from HELM (http://atvbushings.com/)

ok got the arms and the 86 bearings/seals will not work with these now heres my question

will 87-89 arms with 87-89 bearing/seals fit into the frame rails of an 86?

if they do then i will be set as All Balls is trading my 86's out for the 87-89's that will work with the arms

They will fit, the a-arm spacing on the frame is the same for all of the years.
