I picked up a dom II axle off of a friend on the weekend and I went to install it but there was not enough spline on the brake side for the stock axle nut to grab to. I also noticed that there was about 3/4" extra spline on the sprocket side compared to the stock one. If some one could take a pic of there RPM axle on the sprocket side to show me how much extra spline their should be or direct me on what to do next, that would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

here is Project Black's

Please Note that ours has the "RACE HUB" which means that the hub that holds the sprocket is extra thick.

Don't mind the Block off plate, it will be replaced with a Pro-Armor one soon:devil:

here's a pic from the sprocket hub side, its about an 7/8 inch between the indicated red lines

my hub doesn't appear as think as yours so im guessing it's not the race hub. The distance from the edge of the hub to the carrier is about 5/16"

Do you have the Gold colored ring around the axle on the sprocket hub side? Take a picture of your rotor side...

rotor hub is in as far as it goes and is in the right spot because the rotor spins perfect when the caliper is bolted up... there isn't a difference between o4/05 axles and 06+ is there?

idk but im not positive they arent the same. cause i know they changed the swing arms from the 04/05 models to the 06/07 so they may have changed the axle. idk though?

The 04-07 axles are all exactly the same.
Dunno about the 08s, haven't herd of any changes.

d3ktrix that was the exact pic i was looking for, i just have one last question, is your snap ring right on the edge of the of the hub or is it slid inside, i'll try to get a pic to show what im talkin' about. i have way more spline visible as well

If it even has a snap ring its way in there cuz you can't see it from the outside.

And ya ur's has more spline showing then I've ever seen.

thats all i needed to know, i have a feeling some how that the hub was slid about 3/8" to the right because when its in place its 3/4" longer on one side than the other, i'm gonna see if i can slide it to the left tomorrow

The last time I talked to brad if I remember right it doesn't use a snap ring and is pressed on with like a 20ton press.
So I doubt u'll be able to move it.

Was the axle ever installed on a quad before u got it?
Maybe it just didn't get pressed on far enough when it was made.

It does look like your sprocket hub is in to far. If the axle is used there is a chance the sprocket hub has worn and can move. My LSR did that and I had to get a new hub. That's why I have a Race hub RPM now...

Roundsy, would you like me to take it to work and press it farther for you? Or are you going to give it back and get a different one?
