getting ready to put 400 back together

Any thing i should do special before or while rebuilding? I got every thing machined (bored) and all new top end parts. Just have to bolt it all on

I kinda dont want it to blow up in a day..or ever hopfuly

make sure to oil the inside of the cylinder and the side of the piston before you install. Check your ring end gap if the builder didnt do it.make sure you stagger the ends of the rings.

IDK what else but im sure theres more.

stagger the ends of the rings? put the openings in different places?

torque everything down correctly

Yes, stagger the ends of the rings (the gaps). If they are lined up then there is a leak path to suck up oil and lose compression.
