well my check engine light was on, so i brought it to autozone, said it was low coolant, but it wasn't. they said to unhook battery for about 30 minutes, and i did. well it went off, so about after 30 minutes of driving, it came right back on. im stumped, any ideas??

thanks, neil

Low Coolent triggering a CEL!?....LMAO!

Sorry but you need to make an appointment or just stop into a certified Repair shop/ dealership that can acctually help you with you vehicle, AutoZone is for exhaust tips and spray paint, not diagnostics................get an honest reading of your codes and go from there

some times the gas cap will bring a check engine light on when the seal goes bad try replacing it

Is it a GM vehicle? It's fairly common for the coolant level sensor to malfunction, especially if it's in the reservoir bottle. Also, the radiator mounted sensors are known to give false readings too.

the engine doesn't get hot at all, it runs perfectly fine. i'll have it checked it.

btw one more problem---- the past few weeks, its been pretty chilly, and the more chilly it is and the longer it sits, its a b*tch to start. (i just bought the car a month ago). but yesterday it was really hot out, and it started right up. any ideas??

I use to work at autozone. I will NEVER in my life even think about buying another part from that place. Numerous times I had to go outside with customers and run the machine through the car again. Id bring it somewheres else ( a reputable shop) and ask them to diagnostic it again to see whats up with it.

is it low coolant level, or low coolant temp?

i would guess low coolant temp maybe. what temp does it run at?

may be a bad sensor, or a stuck T-stat.
