440EX Valve Question

What kind of symptoms do you have with improperly adjusted valves?

Loud tick if too loose.

Loss of compression and loss of power when too tight.

if their too tight it might start ok cold and bee a bi... to start when its warm. may have to pull start it etc.

If they were way out of adjust could this cause it not to start? Just trying to figure something out.

If they were way too tight, yes.

Also were would the lose of power be in the bottom end or topend if they were to tight

it would nt run that good any where. if they were were loose it should tick like crazy, if there tight it would be hard to start, not idle very well and have no power throughout the band because you would bee sticking a valve open a little and it wouldnt bee building muck compression, do you have a compression tester if you do run a test on it to see what it is. with a cold engine kill switch off wide open throttle the honda book says 100 -120 psi mine was higher than that more like 160 hope this helps
