My girlfriend has a 400EX, but rides my 250r all the time because it is lower and more stable than hers. I don't want to dump her (she has some 'great' qualities) so, the next solution is to lower her quad.

So who makes a good lowering kit for a 400EX?

How good do those things work, does your bottom clearance suffer at all?

From what i know, the lowering kits are only supposed to be used for TT racing. I was led to believe the brackets are not strong enough to support even recreational type riding.

Your best bet is to get a set of ssd type shocks. I know they are spendy, but....Or, i think the 250r shocks will bold right up and are a bit shorter than the 400's stockers. Tiy can get the rear down simply by letting off the preload adjuster (the treaded part).

As far as ground clearance. My Elka's dropped my front 1-1/2 inches. I have yet to encounter any problems from that.

Actually I was just asking. I really don't care to lower my 400... Just like to know for educational purposes.... lol

theres a few things that will lower your 400ex, for one smaller tires like 18" tires on the rear and 20" on the front will lower the bike and also the suspension such as PEPS ZPS (zero preload) or ELKA's SSD ( self sagging device)

She doesn't race, she doesn't jump, she doesn't even go full throttle because it scares her. I'm not going to fork up the cash for ZPS, that would be WAY overkill. I just want to lower it a bit.
