I know you can put a CR250 ignition on a 250R, and everybody says 2001 is the best year. Shops like ESR sale the complete kit or you can go to E-BAY or were ever and pick it up seperate . My question is, I have seen in books like Dennis Kirk where you can buy a lighting stator for a CR250 so you can run lights. Will this work with the kits like you get from ESR and other shops. I thought I saw a post somewhere that said it would not work because of the special backing plate that you have to use with these kits. Any info would be great.
Thanks

I'm fairly sure i read somewhere that people got it to work (cr ignition with lights) without a whole lot of trouble. I'm curious myself because i'd like to look into doing it as well. I'll try and find it again.

Here are a couple search answers that may point in the right direction

From the searches i've done, it would appear that its too much hassle to get lights on a CR ignition. And if you do get a coil its only like 50 watts (apparently stock is around 100 ish)

Just get a Dyna ignition with a lighter flywheel i guess :ermm:

Does anyone know what Honda changed between 2000 and 2001? Just because the year is newer doesn't mean it's better for your application. Just about every part number in the ignition is different between the two years, but I've read the two bikes feel very similar.

"spark advance vs rpm" table of that year matches what the 250r motor best runs on.... or something like that
