Flexx bars or Stabilizer. Which to Buy First ?

i race a lot of competitive mx and right now im running only fat bars but im looking to go the next step and either getting flexx bars or a stabilizer but i can only afford either or. which one makes handling better and what are the pros and cons for each ? and i know it depends on what brand of stabilizer to buy so we'll say one of the stick stabilizers.

i run flexx bars but no stabilizer, i think and its just my opinion but the flex bars are only going to give ya support up and down but nothing side-to-side. my front end is very tight to begin with(fox/walsh) and i have had no problem without running one yet.


the flexx bars are crazy expensive, over priced in my opinion but if you all ready have a set of good bars i would go with a dampaner;)

The normal cylinder type steering dampener-without a doubt.I will not go for the Precision or Elka-it is so expensive with all the settings-you can run only one at a time,so what's the use. I set my dampener only once and not again. It is easier to run straight in woops without having to constantly correct the steering.

Damper first. No question about it and I disagree about the Precision/Elka comment. I've had both a stick damper and now a rotary damper and the difference is HUGE! The rotary damper can be setup to where you don't have to fight it when turning. I always fought the stick damper and it leaked after only a short time. Its more money, but it is worth the money.

Damper all the way! And spring for the Elka or Precision, there is no comparing them with a stick type damper as they are night and day difference.

Infact, I recommend them before you even buy shocks! Once you ride with one you wont ever want to ride with out one!

I must confess,I have only had a stick type damper and havent used a Elka/precision type damper before- but the stick damper for me is ok. Maybe I am not use to better.:D

thanks a lot for all your opinions. i know how good the precision is from what everyone has told me on here plus on other sites and in person but this is my first time every using a damper and i dont really want to go all out right from the start. ill start with one of the stick ones for now and see how it is. if its that bad then ill save up for a precision. ive been looking at the streamlines and have got only positive feedback on them so ill probably end up ordering one today. thanks again for everyones opinions.

Pappy,I did'nt mean anything when saying what I said.I am sure there is better stuff around,but havent tried them out. Cool!!!!!!!!!

Tanner,I also had problems with a Gibson leaking after the first ride-but my PEP is good.

i have a gibson stick stabilizer and the flex bars and i luv it i got the stabilizer used on ebay for $50 and my fasst bars for 190 on ebay used not bad

I completely understand a lack of cash flow for a problem, but I will say that if you can't afford a rotary damper just save your money till you can. That will put you $140ish dollars ahead when can buy one instead of buying the stick damper and then having to buy a rotary later. My stick damper only lasted 10 months. They are not worth the money in my opinion.....

Any opinions on the GPR Rotary stabilizers? They look to be about a hunderd dollars cheaper than a precision unit and a little cheaper than elka...
