Glamis Dune Set Up Stock or Aftermarket

OK old question, but you Glamis Dunners, are you running Stock set up meaning stock A Arms and Swinger or are you going for the wider A Arms plus 2 or 3 and Longer Swing Arm, what Length?? Or have you gone shorter -1"

i considered making my bike wider, but i've never considered making it longer... with the stock 89 swinger i could keep my front end down when i wanted, and bring it up WHENEVER i wanted...

i wish my swinger was a stock 88/89 length. The +1 kinda makes it handle a little worse than the shorter swingers.

The XC guys like to intentionally keep things narrow, because it's easier to maneuver through tight spaces. Many will actually get aftermarket A-arms that are the same length as stock.

But for dunes, you don't have those tight spaces. You don't have those same restrictions. The ONLY reason I can see keeping the stock width is cost, using the stock arms and axle.

I've got a stock-width 400EX, and a wider aftermarket 250r. The 250r is WAY more fun, even if you removed the aspect of the added power. The extra width allows you to do many other things. With the added stability, I'm not afraid to pop over ridges, to side-hill steep faces, or rail through steep bowls. There is SO much more I can do with the wider stance.

Longer swingers are generally for the drag-racing crowd, to keep the front end down. They don't have any other benefit, but lots of drawbacks. Wider is more fun, but no need to go longer unless you're drag racing.

OK sound like use the 450 swinger, plus 2 arms wider Axle and go to a Zero Preload Shocks

for my dune R i have +2+1 a arms with stock 450R shocks stock length swinger and its way more fun in the dunes than my xc 450R . my 450 is a little more scketchy in the dunes like when coming over a ridge and stuff like that
