I just was reading on another forum and a guy on a MXR450 just broke a frame. Anybody had any issues yet. Any gusset kits out for these quads My bro runs one and I am sure if frames are week he wants to reinforce before it happens to him. thanks in advance.

This is the first frame issue I have heard of from any of the Outlaw models!

Anything can be broken if put in the right (or wrong) situation.

Why are you "sure" the frames are weak when nobody has had any issues yet other than one person?

There's is got to be more behind this story. Sounds like someone starting rumors.

No No I am not trying to start a rumor I am wondering if anyone has heard of their being a week point in the frames. This one I guess was right above the swing arm bolt not sure how it happened I just read a post on another forum and was wondering what or if anyone new of a problem of week spots that people new of I know anything can be broken under the right presures. Sorry if it came across as I was trying to start a rumor.

My teammate broke his frame in the spot you just described about six weeks ago, he came up short on a 100foot tabletop, smashing the frame into the ground. I agree that anything will break if subjected to enough abuse, from my experience the MXR frames are very good.

I just rode a week straight of hard practice on my outlaw 450 and ive looked it over checked all the nuts and bolts frame is in great shape. But my 440ex just broke a weld on the left shock.

Lone Star Racing has a gusset kit available for the outlaws. I'm not sure what retail is, but it looks to be about as many pieces as a YFZ kit. I will be installing it next weekend.

Are kit is 85$ for parts only. I have seen one frame break above the Pivot bolt Cups on both sides. Are gusset kits do cover this area. Another problem area is the lower motor mounts and front lower motor mounts.

OK My 450MXR has broke the engine case where the bolt for the swing arm goes thru. I have been using a 525IRS today and noticed the engine case is different. I thought the 450 and 525 where the same just different top end. Also my 450 was a pre production rig have the engines changed or is the 525 Different? anybody know?

You should be able to bolt a 525 into the 450 chassis. The only thing different on the motors is the top end.

That was what I thought but my early 08 coompared to the resent 08 iRS the casting is slightly different in the back where it mounts to the swingarm. I guess I'm speculating that they may have changed the casing for the bottom end? Not sure but def like the power of the 525 compared to the 450. Gobbs of power more. I want my 450 to go like that IRS goes.

Perhaps you should read the original post again, he did not say he was sure the frames are weak. He said he is sure IF the frames are weak that his brother will want to fix it before something bad happens.

When it come to frames there isn,t a stock frame out there that would hold up to the abuse the pros put on it in a season, all mx frames need gussets period even the aluminium frames have them now.
