has anyone researched doing a xr650 swap into a 400ex frame?? what's the weight difference in the motors? How much more hp can you get out of an 650 vs a 450? thought about building it for xc or make a monster flat tracker. Also are all the 650's air cooled or are some models liquid? Obviously a kicker is gonna save weight, thanks

this guy did a liquid cooled XR650, which puts out more power than the air cooled. i believe that the liquid cooled is pushing 55-60hp stock, and the air cooled is like 35 stock.

thought about building one myself for a sick drag bike.

Its been done. The 650L is the air cooled (pretty sure) and the 650R is the water cooled version. The liquid cooled is kick start and the air cooled is electric start. The air ones are dogs in stock trim but respond great to mods (their compression is really low stock, bump it to 11:1 and you'll feel a huge difference supposedly)

The 650R's is where its at for power. If you dont mind kicking it, it would make a great hybrid motor. Honda should have used it in a sport quad...
