What kind of riding?
Lots of used aftermarket parts - same with e 450.
2 strokes can be easier on the wallet for some :huh
They are reliable and easy to work on.

the 250Rs are much easier on the wallet. and less of a headache to work on. i own a 450R and a 250R and i like the 250 over the 450 the majority of the time

You want reliablility and power in the same package, go with a 400EX.
I don't know why everybody is so bent on competing with the 450s. They're faster in a drag race, yeah, but it's not like they are twice as fast. You'd see a bike length over 100 yards, a whopping 0.25 seconds faster. And that's only in a straight line. When you start getting into obstacles and normal trails, a 400EX has the potential to stay right along side, neck and neck, if the rider is capable.
A 400EX will give you everything you're looking for, unless you're looking to win drag races. And if that's your goal, then get a banshee.

i would go with the 400ex also. I'm glad i was able to keep mine. those 450s do require alot of maintenance. if i ever own a 450 it would be the ktm 450. i been lookin at them:eek2:

Like Wilkin said for reliability and power together, you want a 400EX. I had one for a year and a half before I got the R and I never had to fix anything except for the headlight mount.
Theres a reason Honda never changes anything from year to year since 1999. It all works.
