hotcam's questions?

just curious which stage does what exactly..
like i read the lil blog about it but..i want personal opinions
i plan to through one in a stock motor..just k&n/whitebros slip on and sparks timing key

but im kinda iffy on to get a stage 1 or 2...from what i read it seems stage 1 is mid to top and stage 2 is top end?

the durations on 1 is 246 in and ex while stage 2 is 245in 248ex

so im kinda curious how these cams have helped on pretty much stock comp motors?..thanks..

I had the same set up as you when my 400ex was stock except with an Edelbrock carb, go with the stage 1 it will work great with your current set up.Im still running a hot cam stage 1 in my 426ex and love it.

Either way you will notice all around gains with both cams. Stage 1 will have better low to mid power than the stage 2 due to the shorter duration. But like I said, both will improve all around over stock.

i think ill go ahead n get the stage 1...id rather more low to mid over top..

My brother had a stage 1 hotcam in his quad before. The gains were amazing! There was a power increase ALL over the powerband but it seemed to be strongest low to mid end. It had more power everywhere over stock though. Dollar for dollar amount its probally the best gain.

do you have to rejet with addin a cam or when u advance the timing for that matter

advancing the timing actually makes the quad run leaner. Its probally not a lot so i dont think you would rejet. Just amek sure you arent lean now

Where is the cheapest place to buy a hotcam? Is there anything else that should be upgraded when doing a hotcam?

i bought my stage 3 on ebay from honda of troy. ive heard a lot of bad about them but they were the cheapest and they got it to me in a couple days. all hotcams are the same $125

if ur gonig to do motor work,, such as big bore high comp go with the stage 2,, i put it in mine and its rips...
