Does anyone know of any companies that carry a lighter throttle spring?

I've looked at a couple old threads, but all I've found are E-Bay links to expired items

Honda thumb throttle. I had a buddy that just cut a little off his spring.

i wouldnt do a honda throttle, it still leaves the stiff spring in the carb, although the honda throttle is a little longer and gives more leverage...

there is a way to relocate the stock spring to take some of the tension off of it though, does the same thing and it can also be reversed if you dont like it.

just search yfz carb spring and it should come up right away. It was about one of the best things i did for those long rides.

I did the Ebay spring as well. Would have done it the day I go the quad if I would have known the difference. I run the 400ex throttle housing thought too. Better ergonomics that the sotck YFZ one. Two hours of XC would just baout kill my arm when I was still stock.

My overall time at Steele Creek was 2hours, 31 minutes and some odd seconds, and I dont think I could have made it any longer, my thumb was about ready to FALL off, which is why I want a softer spring, pushin with your whole wrist tends to not work so good :eek2:

I think it is great and definatly do it off the ebay because you dont want to screw that up. Also the installation is easy and takes about 20 min.

Not possitive on this b/c its been a while, but when my brother dumped his raptor 660 and screwed up his throttle we had the lid off of the housing on top of the throttle on the handle bars, and if i remember correctly there was a spring in there...So could you buy a softer spring for that rathere than tearing into the carb?

The spring in the throttle assembly is only designed to return the thumb throttle. The stiffness DOES NOT come from this spring. It comes from the spring that returns the slide inside the carb. Replacing the throttle spring (or even removing it entirely) will do nothing to reduce the force needed to open the carb slide against that stiff carb spring.

Probably the best mod I've done on my YFZ was to replace the carb spring with a softer one from this johnhonda guy on ebay. I'd recommend it to anyone.

i put a honda throttle on and did the carb mod myself. i also lubed the cable. its one of the softest i have ever felt. i was gonna buy the spring but the mod made it easy enough to leave that $25 in my pocket.

i just put the lighter spring in my new 08 & it is much lighter but if i nail the throttle it stalls right out. if i roll on the throttle its fine. the slide looks like its opening & shutting perfectly.

any one got any ideas? i hope i didn't f'up a brand new bike!
