Need question answered about my 2005 honda TRX450R water pump

I have an almumin fitting that sits in the hole for the water pump. I was looking at the parts available for the 2005 Honda TRX450R and this aluminum fitting is not listed as a part for the Honda TRX450R water pump assembly. The Honda parts listed for the OEM water pump are the shaft, radial ball bearing, inner seal, outer seal, small washer and propeller. After taking my water pump assembly apart, I have the shaft, radial ball bearing, inner seal, ALUMINUM FITTING, outer seal, small washer and propeller. Does anyone know what is going on here. Why do I have a aluminum fitting inserted in the water pump hole when it is not listed as a part from Honda?

I think I solved the problem. Does the mechanical seal for the water pump assembly consist of an aluminum fitting, a spring and a rubber outer seal?

did you buy the quad used, if so that may be the original owners doing.
