You want to know the problem I see?

There should be some sort of bare stripe on the side of the helmet where his goggle strap was. But I don't see any, which leads me to beleive he wasn't wearing any goggles.

Maybe if he had been, he would have seen that tree... :blah:

that sux pappy, that was a sick quad..:( i say, strap the grab bar to a tree, and get a winch or some really strong ratchet, and straighten that bad boy out.

So it'll be less expensive to build a whole nother quad than to buy a new frame for the 250......? :huh

Sorry to see Pappy. Glad your son is ok though.

Pappy
04-15-2008, 07:10 AM
no its more expensive, but in the end i will have him on something that can take the abuse he seems to be delivering:p

So you're saying that it's not holding up well??? If you hit a tree, something's gotta give.

Bummer!! Definitely feel your pain on that one :p

Scro
04-15-2008, 11:21 AM
Atleast he could finish the race. If that would have been me I would have bent the frame, bent a tierod, twisted the stem, ripped an a-arm straight out of the frame, handlebars would be swinging by the cables below the tank, and I would be laying on the ground moaning in pain:p

It comes down to asking myself if I want to build another one and have it happen over and over. XC racing involves trees and yes they get tagged, but confidence in knowing a routine wreck wont have you ordering a new frame on the way home means alot.

Codys results this season havent shown how hard he has been pushing, and I wont let equipment be the hold back.

BTW...he clipped a tree with the left front wheel going up a hill climb, which then sent him into another tree that took out the bumper. He did not think it was a hard hit and did not even notice the bumper until after the race. Im not bashing anything, it happens, but if I can control how bad it is when it happens I will sleep better

Pappy
04-15-2008, 02:28 PM
got it washed and removed the chassis skid plate, located 4 cracks all at the lower a-arm mounts so far:p

That sucks about the frame. As slick as it looked in the morning I bet a lot of trees got hit. I noticed a lot of bark missing my first lap. I know how he feels on equipement holding him back. I'm having a lot of trouble out of this engine/trans. 2nd gear was acting up so had to run everything in 3rd-5th. Maybe I'll just get a bike and we can race on Sunday, sure looks a lot cheaper.:p

Pappy
04-15-2008, 05:43 PM
no doubt nick, i was wondering what happened to ya.

cody was whooped after racing both events. his knees look like hamburger. and to top it all off, a junior picked on him at school forcing him to apply a left hook to his jaw:p he may be short, but he is a tank and now noone will pick on him especially after he is tired from racing:D

04-15-2008, 06:15 PM
Know your pain,my son has problems at both of last two races.try getting him six six one knee pads.they worked great for my son.his knees always get banged up untill we got the knee pads.they dont constrict his movement at all.

Pappy, Build him a 450r. He's ready:D

I will send him some stickers and a hoodie!

Pappy

They wont let him rac a 450 until he is 16

he is already practicing on the 300 before we tear into it

Pappy
04-15-2008, 07:21 PM
Codys old 300 was sold to pay for the raptor. It was redone and is competing in the same class cody runs by our friend Ty Seivard

Elka/Houser this time???

What engine mods???

Pappy
04-15-2008, 07:59 PM
no engine mods needed.

sticking to bare bones basics because we are in a time crunch. rebuilt 450R front shocks, jb reloactor bracket, stadium rear, 400ex +1 arms, precision damper and then the typical XC stuff. probably even keep the stock pipe and just let the engine be 110% reliable and rely on cody to get it up front

booooo!

Fix the Yammy.

Just get a new frame and gusset the hell out of it, or, experiment with an aftermarket Chromoly or titanium frame.

If you were to buy an aftermarket frame thats much stronger, then it would probably still be cheaper than builing the 300ex. Plus, I remember you saying he was making laps 6 sec's faster on the rappy.

my apologys, i should have typed :and stick to field riding?

it wouldnt be a production machine, it wouldnt be allowed to compete

secondly, no one makes an aftermarket chassis and if they did it would cost more then a complete new raptor 250

oh, didn't know you can't compete with an aftermarket chassis. Also didn't know they don't have one for the rappy yet, you would think they would.

Fred55
04-16-2008, 06:00 PM
pretty much nobody makes an aftermarket chassis any more except lonestar for their drag banshees and maybe walsh, they still might have some KTM CRF and YZF hybrids as well. Otherwise aftermartket chassis are pretty much obsolete.

I have to say that you are one hell of a photographer!!! Cody will get old one day and have a ton of crazy hi-res pics that he can look back on. Its very cool:macho

Keep it up.

I may need some advice to get some good shots of our project when complete. I only have a Canon Rebel XT though:ermm:

Ouch, that makes me squimish! Tell the Mighty Midget to get well soon. He is (are) one tough son of a *****. Between pinata's and go-karts that is some bad luck. Just proof that racing is less dangerous than growing up. Through a frozen sika steak on it and the swelling will go down in no time. I have a question, out of the blue.

How come none of the moderators kids don't have usernames on here? Like Cody, Quadjunkies daughter, and many more if they race.

Is it because you know how bad some people can get?:chinese: :p

Pappy
04-20-2008, 08:15 PM
I believe all of them do, however we as parents monitor what internet content our children see and how they spend their time on the net. Cody reads over my shoulder and will from time to time browse the site but says he prefers to not particpate alot in the forums because he cant stand the BS that usually accompanies all forums. He reads almost every race coverage thread posted and the homepage daily.
