anyone run this cam stk bore config

hello question for all, stk 400ex bore and comp but put in a xr400 cam with the usual bubget mods, fmf slip on, uni filter, ground head pipe, 16/38 tooth, custom alum air box without snorkle, bat relocate, oil tank expainson, nerf bars, jetted carb. is it worth the trouble to just add the cam by itself or do you really need the hicomp piston like a 416 kit to gain anything from a 140 dollar cam change? any info appreciated tx:confused:

i noticed a difference with a cam and valve spring change, but ive heard you get a good improvement with a high comp piston and cam together. kinda like when you put a pipe on your bike, you dont get the full affect till you re-jet your carb. ( jus tryin to let ya get a understanding of what im tryin to say)
