I dont think its that big, more like 1-3db's. At the track a 450r witha curtis spark was ear peircing loud, and if a dasa was 8-9 db's louder i dont even think that could be ama legal.

Agreed, even hmf, which i just bought a slip on... its all so close i've heard them all at the track the difference in power and sound is so close its not even worth much stress. Go to the 400ex section and read the thread of exhaust sounds and all the pipes that are supposed to "be much louder" than the others, arent. They all sound mostly the same.

The Sparks is 104dbs at 4750 rpms and the DASA is at 101 at 4750 rpms.

I also have replaced the sparks end cap and installed the Vector HMF end cap.

I will post a picture shortly.

wppracing, this might be a dumb question but was does the Vector end cap do? I just got my first ride on my new sparks exhaust today and this thing rips. Lots of low end torque!

Thats a standard core Sparks with the original end cap correct?

Classic or race Dasa can?

Standard Core with HMF Vector end cap.
DASA Classic

Here is an insert I use for a spark arrestor/quiet core. It lowers the DBs to 94 @ 3750 and 97 @ 4750 and the power is still very good.

i have both on each of my race bikes... the Dasa is MUCH MUCH louder with a ear hurting pitch to it... the tone of the Dasa sounds much better.. i dont know if there is something diffferent with my Dasa but when i ride past my friends i give her a friendly REVVV and it'll send them into a crunch holding there ears :D

I know all pipes are louder as the rpms increase. BUT the tests are done at certain RPMs.

I agree the Sparks is louder than the DASA.

The Vector End Cap does nothing for performance, just looks. As for sound between I would think its louder because it doesnt direct the sound downward like the original sparks set up.

I should be getting the Big Core Kit for the pipe this week.

I just noticed that the sparks canister looks exactly like an HMF canister. That rear bracket is made/welded exactly the same way as the hmf bracket. Does hmf make the exhaust systems for sparks?

So whats the conclusion to this thread? What pipe is an overall better exhaust system?
