I was looking at www.lukesracing.com and saw a 440 cylinder advertised that claimed that you need no engine case mods to install it. Is this true? Is it the same for the 416 kit? How does the 440 kit fit into the same size hole as the stock sleeve? Is the sleeve machined? Thanks in advance.

That looks like a great idea. They just send you a new bored out cylinder with the sleeve already installed for $550 and you get to keep your old one. Or you can give them your old one and they give you $100 back. Now I am positive that I am going to get one. I can keep the old one, and have a whole new one. It will be like having two engines in case one goes on me.

no case boring is required for the 416, just a bore on the cylinder. as far as the 400 not needing a case bore they use a tapered cylinder at the bottom so it will fit into the stock case, however i have heard of cracked cylinders due to the thinner lining. not firsthand experiance just hearsay, there are many folks on here running 440's with no probs for quite some time.

a 440 sleeve does not require that you machine the cases at all. In a worst case scenario, you may have to take a file and file a little on the cases. The only reason for that is from the factory, the left and right cases don't always exactly line up. Otherwise, a 440 sleeve will fit in the cases just like a stock one does (even if it's bored to 406, 416, or 426)

Is anyone running a 426 on here? Any problems with boring the cylinder that much (sleeve cracking, etc)? How much do you have to bore your cylinder to get a 416?
