Does anyone know what the top speed of a 400ex is? I'm trying to estimate the top speed difference between running a 16 tooth front sprocket and 15, with 38 in the rear.

Here's a 400EX speed calculator. Just put in the sprocket sizes and tire sizes and click "recalculate".

I'm glad I'm not the only one that started plugging in unrealistic numbers to see what would happen :D

Take into consideration, your engine also needs enough power to get you to that speed. Even if you gear the quad to run 80mph, if your engine doesnt have the power to propel you to that speed, then your gearing change will be for nought.

Wind speed, direction, your weight, your engines power output, and terrain are all factors that will play into the top speed of your machine. And all I did was scratch the surface of all the variables.:)

I think that calculator isn't too bad. I have a 13 / 41 and it says 55.12mph and my GPS top out at 53.9mph wide open.
