well i've been getting kind of board w/ my 450r latley. right now its set up for xc. last weekend i rode at a place that had a pretty cool mx track and it seemed pretty fun. its been crossing my mind of getting rid of my +.5 houser a arms, my razr 2's and setting the quad up for mx. only thing that is holding me back is not being able to ride trails. damn, with i could decide.... anyways here a pic of how my quad sits not. thing that sucks is i just bought the a arms and tires. would like to get some opinions from people on why the like wich one and why.

It is whatever you feel you want to do man. I know that I could never do what the MX guys do so I wouldn't even go there. Although I do hit a motocross track every once in awhile but it gets boring to me. Why dont you buy a set of MX tires and A-Arms if its possible so you can do both.

I run the woods and xc on my 450r.I'm running Houser +2 std travels. Run 4-1 wheels in the woods and 3-2 wheels on the track.Works great for me.

Since it is set up for XC already I would just stick a little more money into it and have one badass XC quad while being able to waste your buddies on the trails with too.

buy yourself an adjustable axle and maybe switch from .5 arms to +1 arms and then get a second set of wheels with 4-1 offset for xc tires and 3-2 offset for your mx tires. You will not be as wide as a full out mx quad but its probley the best way to get as much as you can out of 1 quad.

i think MX is 100% more fun than xc. As it sits now, my quad is 52 inches wide (dont have 4:1 rims yet, but those are coming soon) and both my dad, and i have no trouble gettin through tight trails.

I have Razrs on DWT rear and stock front rims with an adjustable LSR axle. I run +2 a-arms up front.

When I want to hit an MX track, I pull of my rear skid, throw on my 18-inch holeshots, widen the axle and turn a few clicks on my shocks.

Best of both worlds:D

i like mx because of the jumps and usually higher speeds but thats just me. thats also why un getting a bike:devil: but you could easily race B class with that setup. get some new tires and rims and you'll be set.

I don't think you know the meaning of tight trails.

what ever you decide is what you are going to be most comfortable with. i wanted to do xc in the worst way back when i was 14-16 set my 400ex up for it and then as a mess around day went and rode a track and was basically hooked since then. for me i think mx is alot more fun but thats just me. another thing that im sure you know is that there is a bery big difference from messing around in practice to racing a full out mx race. things that you will have to think about are: 1) is this what i want. settin up a bike for mx with the best parts(do it right the first time) it is very expencive. 2) do i have riding places/time to dedicate to 1 or the other... if you have trails around you and no mx tracks then it is kind of obvious and it works the other way as well. i speak from only my view when i say i think mx is better. i have more tracks that i can ride around me then trails so it only made sence to do mx and i just love the feeling of flying through the air. i dont know if this helps its kind of long and seems like im just going on but oh well

I couldn't decide either. Thats how I ended up with a mx set up with xc tires. I really enjoy mx more though. It's more challanging to me.
