i am installing a new stage 1 hot cam on my cousin's 2004 450r. instructions say to use assembly lube on cam . but they didn't send any with it. can i just use oil or does it have to be assembly lube ? thanks ....... he said i get to break in the new cam because he doesn't want to ride at a slower pace to break it in . i hope i don't fall in love with a honda.

Use assembly lube. You should be able to get it at any auto parts store. Who told you you have to ride it slow to breakmit in?

Assembly lube contains high levels of moly, to protect the metal while the oil pressure is comes up.

If you check the service manual, it will probably recommend that you crank it with the kill switch off for a bit to get the oil flowing before you actually fire it up.....
