I was looking at the X-4 system for my 300. is it any good?

id say its one of the best ones made for a 300!

definitely a good choice. i have one on mine. if you don't mind the noise, it's worth it.

Ok I see them for $400, is that a good price? Anybody have em cheaper? Also are they REAL loud or something?

That is a fair price.
It's a full system (header and silencer)
They usually run 380-450.

The older ones were a bit louder than the newer ones.
The newer pipe also has a modular endcap that you can put inserts into to reduce the noise levels, add a spark arrestor, or open it up when sound levels are not of concern (closed course race w/o restrictions).

I would agree that the Sparks X-4 is one of the top 3 pipes for the 300ex.

ok thanks. Also I have a K&N and when I get this pipe, what size jet should I run?

Sparks recommends a 40 pilot, stock needle at stock position, and a 135 main mixture screw at around 2-2.5 turns from lightly seated fwith an aftermarket filter and modded airbox lid/no lid at around sea level-1000ft. above.

w/o spark arrestor and no airbox lid you'd be running around a 135 Keihin main jet & 40 pilot.
