Hi I am rebuilding a 1987 LT80 for a friend and I was wondering if anyone knows the correct size to bore the cylinder for a +1 Suzuki piston. Also any knowledgable recommendations concerning porting specs and possibly shaving the head a bit.I am a journeyman machinist with the correct tools but I don't want to wreck the cylinder. The quad is totally stock and I have read alot of good info on here(props to LT80 especially).

Thanks

Welcome to the forums eh. :D

What you do is get a suzuki 1.0 piston. You then bore the cylinder to almost fit the piston. You then hone the cylinder to a piston clearance of .0025
You leave a good cross hatch for break in.

.030 off the head.

You can raise the exhaust port .125 and take the head down .040
Clean the transfers up but do not raise them.
After that, it's best left to a pro.

That will get you going.

Thank you. :)
