My other A.A.D.S. thread got kinda sidetracked on the whole rear rack issue, and the correspondence emails between the Mfg. (Quadboss), and myself.

So I'll do this one, to show the latest symptoms of the Disease :huh

Here is a nose shot w/stock front rims 'Flipped'.
(yeah, I know it will increase the bump-steer, but I'll try it out and see how bad it really is)
<a href="http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/03%20400ex/?action=view&current=IMG_8253.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/03%20400ex/IMG_8253.jpg" border="0" alt="Nose shot w/ 'flipped' stock front rims"></a>

here is a shot of how much the caliper is exposed with the stock rims 'Flipped'.
look closely, you can see where the edge of the stock rim USED to be... It was flush with the 'little round black thingy" on the caliper.

(btw- "little round black thingy" is a very highly technical term, that I dont want to take the time to define here.
If you would like me to define it more clearly, just PM me, and I will be happy to do so).

You can also see a small black mark on the casting of the caliper. This is where the edge my polished Douglass rims were.
and then you can compare those 2 spots, to where the now 'Flipped' stock rims edge is.<a href="http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/03%20400ex/?action=view&current=IMG_8250.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/03%20400ex/IMG_8250.jpg" border="0" alt="Exposed caliper w/ 'flipped' stock rims"></a>

UH - OH! What's that sound I hear?
Could it be the sound of the UPS/FEDEX truck???
Well YES it is, it sounds just like Santa's sleigh...
here's a couple shots of the Polished Stainless Airscoops
<a href="http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/03%20400ex/?action=view&current=IMG_8256.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/03%20400ex/IMG_8256.jpg" border="0" alt="Polished Stainless airscoops"></a>

MAN !, I just might be ready to take it out this weekend and try it out, and just think,..... This will be my SECOND time to go ride it since I bought it !!!

lol, it looks like your getting ready to race Baja or something, there are somany different things that ketch your eye you don't know where to look first. Nice to see.. I mean nice to not see, THE ... RACK! hehe

Also, I like your "little black round thingy" explanation.. made me laugh! :D

I like the MMF scoops but, I would have went black and not polished.

The oil temp stick is nice. I've had one nearly 2 years now.

How easy/hard were the AC Racing Pro Peg Nerfs to install? Mine were pure hell but, they look and function great once they line up and bolt up.

Not a fan of flipping rims. That's one step below wheel spacers and duck tape on quads.

what did you do with the valve stem on the wheels. i flipped my wheels once just messing around and saw that the stem hits the caliper

Brauap-
Thanks for the compliment,
and yeah, I know your not a big fan of the rack idea. I do like it but it won't be mounted all of the time.

hornetgod13-
I was going back and forth trying to decide on the scoops.
I didn't really like the brushed look on some scoops, then I ended up getting these polished ones off of ebay for $42. Shipped ! so I couldn't really turn that down.

The guy I got them from had taken them off of his quad, due to he had put on front shocks w/piggyback rezzies, and the scoops hit the rezzies.
So he thought they could not be used anymore. I spent about 30 min. doing some custom trim work w/ a rotory file, a few test fittings, and they fit quite nicely.

Now the nerfs were a whole different story. Yeah they are a PITA to install. My first mistake was to actually try and use the mounting instructions! They certainly could have done a better job with the descriptions, as well as the sequence.

If you try to follow the instructions, and are expecting that the nerfs actually FIT, then you will go nuts trying to get them on.
(the damn things will not fit properly by following in instructions).

after about 3 attempts,(resulting in TOTAL frustration), to do it they way the instructions say, and not getting them to line up properly, I decided to approach it my own way.

the way I was able to get them on, was to first loosley install the left side bolt to the engine mount.
Next I slid the nerf tubes together, and loosley installed the right side engine mount bolt.
(note- at this point, the heel guards are laying on the ground).

Now the next step was to slide the rear mount into the nerfs, and forcefully lift the rear of the nerf up to allow the forward bolt hole to line up.
(note- the bolts should be UNDER the nerf, not ABOVE the nerf. if you put the bolts into the frame above the nerf, you will end up with the pegs being about 3" too low).

then the last step is the REAL FUN part. I actually had to use a bottle jack, under the rear nerf mount, to lift it up enough for the rear bolt hole to line up with the frame hole on the quad.
In other words, I actualy had to preload them into place, to get the bolt holes to line up! What a BI#CH!!!
Then do the same jack trick for the other side rear bolt, tighten them down, and THEN tighten the front engine mount bolts.

yes, it IS a real PAIN to put them on.

and as far as flipping the front rims, yeah I agree that it is just shy of spacers/duct tape,
but I would never do that. I prefer Bailing wire by FAR !!! LOL!

Seriously though, I just wanted to try it due to I had a set of stock rims w/new tires.
I already have the Douglas fronts on mine, and the wifes quad has some fronts that are wider than stock,(equal width to the rear wheels).

I couldn't really see myself ever putting the stock wheels back on either of the quads, so why not give it a try?
if the bump steer is that much worse than the douglass wheels, then I can always swap them back.
Since I'm not going to be doing any real racing, or riding as hard as many here do,...
I'm really not too worried about the ball joints or tierods.
When I AM out doing any whoops/jumps,...
I will certainly have the Douglass fronts mounted.

BigBore24-
if you look very closely in the pic,(at the bottom of the rim), you can see where I mounted a stainless valve stem into the rim backwards, (in other words, the valve stem is inside the rim).
Then I simply drilled another hole on the other side of the rim, and installed another stainless valve stem.
Works great.
