I really want to see a few quads with the 400ex plastic on and what you had to do to get it on. Also if it matters would it be the same or different mounting on a 2002.

Its more of a hassle than people say it is. I will never do it again. Don't have any pics We have it on a 1994 300EX... and no the mounting points for plastics on the 300ex have never changed until the new ay they look now.

Here is a pic of my 1993 with 400ex plastics. I believe they were 2002 400ex plastics. Anyways, if you want close up pics of how I mounted everything, let me know. Keyswitch and neutral light fit perfect. No place for reverse light though. The only real pain is where the seat mounts to the frame. Overall, I did not think it was that bad of a conversion, especially at the price of 300ex plastics.

I think I will just buy a set of new maier plastic instead of trying to get 400ex plastic onto my 300. Thanks for the info and by the way the 400 plastic on your machine looks awesome.

Do a search in the body forum up at the top. There is a lot of info there, and it may be easier than you think.

It is truly not bad at all. Like I stated above, the hardest part was the seat and that requires welding. You basically have to yurn the seat mounts around. The rest of the plastics require some "L" brackets and thats about it. Except for the seat, I mounted the plastics in a couple of hours. I did not even do the seat mounts right away. The back of the rears mounted just like the 300ex plastics do. You dont have to mount the front of the seat, it just does not sit flush but sits fine.

Is it possible to keep the rear seat plastic and maybe trim them to accomodate the side panels and do whatever I have to get the front plastics on.

Yes, you can keep the rear plastics and use the fronts. The fronts are easy to mount. I used 2 straight brackets for the front to mount to the existing mounts and 2 for the side panels. I will post pics tomorrow if I get a chance.
