At my last race i was having to rev the motor out in 3rd gear on some of the hills. The hills were kinda steep and mostly rocks and alot of thick dust. Im thinkin most of the races that im going to do are the same. Well the 3rd gear seemed to rev it out too much and just spin the wheels, then when i would try 4th it seemed to lug the motor too much. At the time i was using 13-39 gearing, i now have 14-28, should it help, I havent been able to ride yet so im just seeing if it will make 3rd gear a bit linger so i dont have to lug it in 4th.

300ex's come stock with 13/38 gearing, you want to go bigger out back or smaller up front for more bottom end power. Dropping one countershaft tooth (to a 12) is the same as 3 or 4 teeth larger out back. http://www.sidewindersprockets.com/images/ratioa.gif
