i just bought a white brother e-series muffler for my wheeler from a guy on ebay, and once i got it and tried to bolt it on and there is an 1/8" gap all around the head pipe and it does not tighten up that much. I did look into the end of the stock pipe and there seems to be like a thick metal mesh type stuff which must act as a gasket or something like that, and i was curious if i need to order one of those. I am going to school to be a machinist and i just thought about making a steel sleeve that would make that gap go away, does anyone else think this would work, because i wouldn't see why not.
Please any suggestions would be great!
Thanks!

i know what you mean, i had the same problem. i think the mufflers we got are slipons and if the header doesnt have the flange on the end the mufflers inlet is too big.
what i did was wrap the end of the header that fits into the muffler with one or two layers of exhaust heat wrap. then i twisted and slid the muffler over it and tightened down the compression clamp WB gives you. its leak free now and hasnt given me any trouble.
also, that pipe rides real close to the rear plastics, above the factory heatshield. i used some of the same wrap around it where it was close so i wouldnt come to find it warped or worse later. hope this helps.

had the same problem. i used a short piece of 1 1/4" emt electrical conduit for a sleeve. perfect size. slips right in the silencer and then the head pipe slips inside the conduit.

thanks guys, the electrical conduit sounds like a deal to me with some permatex to create a gasket between all the piping to make a really good seal.
Thanks!

I ended up not using the electrical conduit but instead just used header wrap as a filler for the gap and it sealed it all up great. Also while i had the muffler off i decided to get some ceramic coating and i sprayed my head pipe using my air brush gun. That stuff is really cool and works great!
Thanks for all your comments!
