Ok so i got my motor rebuilt for this race season. Bored it, ported, polished, took out reverse, over sized valves, heavy springs, everything i could do to get it race ready. Ever since i keep hearing a tap that sounds to me like the valves are too loose. I brought the quad over to my mechanics house and he did the whole once over and adjusted the valves.

So today i went out and rode it for a good hour and a half and the noise comes back. Could this be because I'm running to hot and need an oil cooler or is this just a sound I'm going to have to get used to?

Any info would be good. Thanks.

big bad beny

Ya when i had mine bored out last year it had a tick noise till i moved up in higher octane. I also used to use race gas when i could get it at the local gas station.

u might want to tear it all apart to see if u didnt harm anything in the motor.

i did the same thing and i blew it twice then switched to 110 octane. lower octane causes it to vibrate more which creates harmonic vibrations and cracked the sleeve ring at the top and pulled the sleeve into the cases.

wsnt pretty.
