Best way to lay the EX on it's side?

I need to do some work to my swing arm skid plate and I was wondering what the best way to lay the bike on it's side is? Last night I tipped it up and sat it on the rear bar but fuel started spilling out. Let me know.

turn your fuel petcock to off position

yah and maybe pinch off the vent hose. with the petcock off and vent closed the only fuel youll leak is whats already in the carb. you can even shut the petcock and let the engine run till it burns all the fuel in the bowl

Yeah I guess it would make sense to turn the fuel off. It was pissing like crazy out of the vent though. I will pinch it off. Thanks!
