I thought I've been reading about people adjusting their stock needles, but I checked mine and there is only one groove for the clip to go in. Maybe the '07's don't have the adjustable needle? So where can I get just an adjustable needle and not a whole jet kit for my stock carb? I've got all the jets I'd ever need laying around from other jet kits and jets I've ordered individually. I know I can get/make a spacer to put under the needle clip, but I already tried and it didn't do much. The aftermarket needles have a different contour to them which I have learned in the past give much better results than just shimming a stock needle.

2005 and Up have non-adjustable needles. Go online to a parts dealer like www.bikebandit.com and order a stock adjustable needle for a 1999-2004 400EX. Cost $34.35 (ouch!)

Or

www.jetsrus.com has a carb rebuild kit that comes with an adjustable needle. The kit costs $19.79

Here's a picture of the carb rebuild kit they are selling.

just place a small washer underneath the clip so it raises it up. works just as good and a lot cheaper
