Hey guys, let me start from the beginning. I've had my quad for about 3 and half years now and my first buy was a CT racing slip-on exhaust, iwas immediately hooked! I started researching EVERYTHING, and it got worse when i found this site :) You guys of all helped me on the good and bads, learn from your wrongs and rights and everything in and out. I'm only 16 years old and i pay for everything that goes on my bike and my breaks, so dont think im just some kid playing with my parents money : ) I've learned alot over the years and experience as everyone does, i went from not knowing how to change my oil to being able to rebuild my whole quad! My project isn't quite done due to im waiting on the swingarm pivot bolt and bearings i had to cut out to get the eninge out lol. The following pics are milestones of my preferences or what i wanted to try : ) But first, i'd like to list my parts list that im proud of due to i've worked too many minimum wage jobs to pay for. Through every part i've had this is what i ended up with and will continue to add onto! When i get the bike done i'd like to run for quad of the month and maybe inspire some other young builders or just some guys or gals that dont know where to start. Follow the posts! -Wes

Parts: JE 10.5:1 stk bore piston, stg. 2 hotcam, curtis sparks x-6 full, tag metals front bumper (polished), K&N, 165mj 42 pilot, quad tech hood, baja's on low pro holeshots all round, black maier plastic, fly handlebars, ASV breakaways, n-style seat, ac old school pro pegs, durablue +2 axle, rpm lock nut, (myself painted, well done if i do say) red frame and sub-frame, black a-arms and swinger and nerfs. custom lighting rear and front, and switch panel. This is everything that is done or being done, im waiting for my new swingarm pivot bolt to come in before rebuild and then i'll get recent pics up!

just a little hint here.
When using the photo bucket downloads, try using the 'HTML' link option.
That way, your pics will post directly on your thread, rather than being links. (it even works for slideshows).

It make the post alot eaiser to read/follow, and its alot cooler to see the pics of the progress next to each other.
(just a thought)

BTW- you sound like a pretty sharp 16 y.o., and your bike looks VERY nice. keep up the good work.

I have those same Fly bars. They are shorter than the stock ones so all my controls barly fit. What do u think of them? Nice project!

hey thanks for the posts guys, and for the photobucket, i wasnt for sure which one to pick! :) thanks for the tip tho. and i'll keep you guys posted, i like my fly bars but like you said its hard to get all the controls on there! i just smash them together neatly as possible lol. i'll post a pic when i get it fabbed up but im welding a switch panel for my key and nuetral light so i dont have to drill holes, im thinking bout putting my kill switch and etc. on a switch (like a nascar)

Don't keep us waiting. I know what you mean when you said everything has come out of your pocket. I am about to turn 16 and I have over 6 grand in my quad including what I bought it for and because of that I have $600 in my bank acount lol but hey it's almost summer which is when I make my money

hell yeah dude, makes you appreciate it all way more. while im waiting on swingarm pivot bolt im gonna put everything back on and try and start the new engine, will get pics tomorrow : )

yea im 16 and in ure position this sport is expensive lol and i have to pay for trcuk insurence and gas ontop of my 4 wheeler bill :grr:

I hear ya... my parents divorced when i was around 13 so i work not only for my quad but for my truck and gas as well... i help pay bills and juggle varsity football,track and baseball with a 3.8 GPA. no time for dilly dally round here lol

it looks sweet. I have been seeing something that would look pretty trick on that bike too. People paint the honda in the right side cover the same color as the frame. it looks pretty cool and i think it would look neat with your color scheme too. just a thought.

The paint on the frame and a arms look nice, but Id say if you want to keep it looking nice you better get a full belly & A-arm skid plates or else it will just wear right off.

Save up for some 450R shocks :)

yeah i hear yeah, im not done installing things yet! :) i have a full belly skid and i have a 450r rear shock and workin on getting fronts :) thanks for input tho guys great suggestions.

oh also.. on the a-arms and swinger i took into consideration the wear of the paint, so i painted them with a strong 3m nascar approved spray on bed liner and then painted black paint over them with a clear coat to give them a shiny black look with some texture.. im hoping it'll hold up well.

alright guys, been really busy with the quad all week. i am proud to say i got it all together and running. with trips to o'reily's all week for odds and ins and every night in the shop my baby is back together, i have pics on camera and will download more after i wash it tomorrow, its midnight and ive been workin on it for 7 hours straight today so i'll get pics tomorrow. i did everything this week from bleeding brakes to puttin on air scoops. the main assembly started friday night cuz i got the pivot bolt and bearings in. that was a new experience with the needle bearings, i destroyed the ones in there haha. stay tuned for pics and list of stuff i did! oh and IMO, I HATE CUSTOM LIGHTING :scary: but thats because i hate wiring. pics incoming!!

BUMP, its done finally.. rode it quite a bit today flyin through gears and breakin it in.. needs some proper jetting tuning but thats no biggie. check out these pics.. I'm thinkin bout wax'in her up and runnin for quad of the month in May or June, what you guys think?

BTW everyone Dave (chino886) built my engine up for an imaginable awesome price to help a fellow rider.. appreciate it Dave, and thanks again, can't thank you enough... this is truely my dream bike!
